I qualified from the London Foot Hospital in 1972 after previously working at Mann, Crossman and Paulin Ltd (the Mann of Watney Mann of Red Barrel fame!) and for a short while as a temporary civil servant at the DHSS in Watford.
My first chiropody job was in a private practice in Bridgwater until I decided to work for myself in Sherborne. I joined West Dorset chiropody team full time in 1978 and stayed with them until they were amalgamated into a Dorset-wide service in 1995. I left in 2004 and have worked independently since in Sherborne, Shaftesbury and Puddletown/Dorchester since.
I was asked to lecture to the Clark's gold diploma shoe fitting course for several years and I developed and applied a original appointment system for the NHS in Dorset. The concept and implementation was described in articles and in the professional journals of the UK and Australian professional bodies.
My interests out of work include rugby, reading and photography.
I am married to Jane and we have two children, both of whom are living away after completing their University degrees - Alex in Psychology and Philosophy and Nigel a Ph.D. as an Immunologist.
