NLP has at its heart respect for the uniqueness of each of us. Not a psychology, it's a 'how to' set of tools and techniques about how you think and feel, and therefore how you act in the world, and how to make choices and changes in these. NLP can be applied in two ways; therapeutically to remove and overcome blocks from the past, and in a coaching context to identify and grow into a worthwhile future. We are born with just two fears: being dropped and loud noises. All other fears are learned and so can be changed. On the other hand, just watch a baby laugh at 'nothing': we are born with an oceanic capacity for happiness we can tap into that reservoir to guide us to an enjoyable life.
We are amazing learners. The trouble is that sometimes we have learned to do things that are not for our best welfare such as smoke, eat for comfort or procrastinate. So how is it that we can know all the reasons why we should change and still not simply make the changes?
The answer lies in how we form habits and they are physically strengthened over time to spring into action according to certain triggers. The same goes for phobias, anxiety and panic – which are other forms of habit.
Enter hypnosis: a natural state of relaxation. You experience it every time you are floating off to sleep in between waking and sleeping. Blending NLP with this pleasant state of relaxation enables you to change the course of your habitual response to a new one – one that is right for you, and this is established at the outset of our time together.
No Hypnotherapist can make you do what you don't want to do. However that does mean that you have to really want to make the change. Typically the changes can be made in one to three sessions.
We are all works in progress. Hypnotherapy helps you unblock or change something that was formed in the past, in order to move forward to something that is better for you and the person you are becoming. Coaching helps you identify what that is, and enables you close the gap between your present and your dream. It can be applied in specific areas such as your career or business life, or in a marvellous all-round overview which is called Life Coaching.
Sometimes called a 'conversation', the coaching process happens over a minimum of four sessions. The focus is results, results and results.
