I have practiced acupuncture full time for over 24 years. I always work to encourage each patient to achieve their full potential in health and well-being.
I initially trained as a nurse and then decided to retrain in Traditional Five Element Acupuncture. I graduated from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1986 and have advanced licentiate qualifications from the same college, graduating in 1991. Between 1993 and 1996 I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in London and now integrate the clinical skills of Five Element and Yin/Yang theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I have post graduate qualifications in Patent Chinese Herbal Medicine and have done further training in Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture.
I was instrumental in the setting up and the long term development of one of the first clinics of complementary medicine in the South West of England and am frequently asked to advise on the development of other clinics.
In the early days of practicing acupuncture I was asked to treat stroke patients in a local hospital and the benefits observed then have encouraged me to continue to work with patients with clinical conditions where combining orthodox and complementary medicine is known to be helpful.
In 2004 and 2005 I helped to organise “Free to Be” retreats at Charlton House Hotel in Shepton Mallet. This was a programme designed to regain balance with the mind, body and spirit through the experience of partaking in different forms of holistic therapy and exercise.
As well as working here at Glencairn House I also practice from my home in Bishops Caundle, Dorset.
