Bodil Mjoelkalid - Nutritionalist

Background:

My first career was as a secondary school teacher with a degree from Trondheim University in Norway, subsequently working in both Norway and Tanzania. Like many practitioners my interest in alternative therapies had been sparked by my own ill health, which had dogged me throughout my adult life. Conventional medicine offered no help. Whichever test was taken, there was nothing wrong with me, yet clearly I was not right. So I made the decision to find my own solutions.

I soon focussed on Nutritional Therapy as it is practical, logical and based on a huge amount of solid and reputable research.

As my youngest child started primary school, I began a three-year nutrition course, topping it up later with a post-graduate diploma. I started working as a Nutritional Therapist in 1996. Since then I have studied extensively both existing and new research and built up a huge amount of experience from treating my own patients. I believe I can now offer a valuable service to people with a wide range of health problems, including migraine, ‘chronic fatigue syndrome’, ‘irritable bowel syndrome’ and other persistent ailments.

Hemaview microscopy is used at the consultation to examine a drop of the patient’s blood on a monitor, together with the patient. The condition of the blood gives a visual indication of what is malfunctioning and changes that take place from one consultation to the next can be clearly seen.

Testing I use Hemaview analysis extensively and, where necessary, blood and other testing services provided by reputable medical laboratories. This has proven to be the most effective way to pinpoint the likely cause of health problems and identify ways of addressing them. I use labs like “Genova” and TDL (The Doctor’s Lab, the UK’s biggest private medical laboratory). These tests are often life-changing for many people as they are finally tested rather than relying on what is ‘thought likely’ to be the problem through many years of persistent illness. These tests can subsequently be used by GPs.

Initial Consultation: New patients are requested to complete quite a long questionnaire which I spend some time studying prior to the first consultation. This makes the initial 90 minute session much more effective and enables any tests, dietary changes and supplements to be agreed by the end of it.
